What is Maca?
The maca plant, known scientifically as Lepidium meyenii, is a cruciferous vegetable. It grows in the mountains of Peru, Peruvians have used maca for many years, for a variety of reasons – such as reducing stress and boosting libido.
Maca powder is a powerful superfood that can easily be added to smoothies, oatmlea, baked goods, salad dressings, and even lattes. It has a slightly earthy flavour but you can’t taste it when you add it to recipes.

How To Make A Vanilla Cinnamon Smoothie
This smoothie recipe is super easy to make, and you probably already have all of the ingredients!
INGREDIENTS NEEDED
Non-Dairy Milk: For these maca cookies I used macadamia nut milk, but you can use whatever you prefer.
Bananas: They are best frozen, as they create a creamy smoothie consistency.
Maca Powder: Duh! That’s what this recipe is all about. Here is my favourite Maca Powder.
Vanilla Extract: I used pure vanilla extract for an added bonus of flavour
Yogurt: Helps to create a creamy consistency
Hemp Hearts: Because we’re not adding protein powder to this recipe, hemp hearts offer an amazing protein punch. Just 1 tbsp has 3-4 grams of protein.
Cinnamon: Duh! It’s in the title.

Vanilla Cinnamon Maca Smoothie
Ingredients
- 3 bananas frozen
- 1 cup dairy-free milk
- ⅔ cup vanilla yogurt vegan
- 1 ½ tsp maca powder
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Blend all ingredients together in a blender
- Top with granola (optional). Enjoy!
