If you are reading this, that means you are thinking about making the switch to adopt a vegan lifestyle. There are many reasons you may be deciding to go vegan: for your health, for the environment, or for the animals. Whichever reason (or reasons) have led you here there are three practical steps you can take to put you on the right path.
These tips are all extremely practical, simple, and easy to implement into your life right now. They are the exact steps that helped me to make the transition. I know they will help you too!
Without further ado, here are 3 practical steps to adopt a vegan lifestyle today:
1. Don’t go full plant-based overnight
For some people, going from omnivore to herbivore overnight can be a really big, and sometimes scary and overwhelming change. Take things at your own pace, perhaps go vegetarian first (that’s what i did!)
2. Keep a collection of easy-to-follow vegan recipes
For many, the lifestyle change starts in the kitchen, and at first, you may be lost on what to cook/eat. To stop this from happening, save a bunch of easy-to-follow recipes that look appetizing to you! Some recommendations to find recipes: @itslivb @thrivingonplants @pickuplimes @hotforfood and @cheaplazyvegan.
I also have a collection of vegan recipes on my website ranging from vegan cinnamon rolls, to vegan mac n cheese, to healthy edible cookie dough!
3. Continue to educate yourself!
Veganism is a lifestyle not a diet. People usually quit being vegan because they either (A) only did it to look trendy or (B) never understood the ethics, the health benefits, and the positive environmental impact. To make sure you will be on the right track I recommend watching the following documentaries and videos:
- What The Health & Game Changers (to learn about the health benefits).
- Cowspiracy (environment) and Dominion (animals/ethics).
- Gary Yourofsky’s Best Speech Ever on YouTube.
- Youtubers @that_vegan_couple as they have videos that answer all beginner vegan questions
I hope you find these tips to be helpful. If you have any other questions feel free to comment them below or direct message me on Instagram! xo
Going vegan isn’t the most we can do. It’s the least we can do.
